The ancient Chinese believed that because everything is alive in some way, we all affect each other. That means the dead plant in the corner of your yard actually changes the way you feel. They called this idea Feng Shui, which means "wind and water," since wind and water affect each other.

Look around your room and see how it affects you. How do the colors in your room make you feel? If you don't like them, you can cover them up with posters or sheets that you like.

Your room should feel like a happy, relaxing place.

You'll feel more in charge if you can see the door as you sit at your desk.

What we have in our room can affect our sleep. Take a look at what's in your room. Would you feel okay dreaming about your stuff?

You'll feel safer if you can see the door when you're lying in bed- that way no one can sneak up on you. Also, you'll feel more protected if you have a solid wall behind your bed instead of a window, for the same reason.

The pictures on your wall are important. If you look at a painting of a miserable puppy in the rain every day, it might make you feel sad. A picture of you and your friends smiling will make you happy.

If your junk is always falling on top of you when you open the closet door, that could put you in a bad mood. You might want to give away some toys you don't use anymore.
